YES! All men are equal, not 3/5 a person! The Massachusetts 54th regiment is one of the bravest groups I've seen. Even with the impossible mission on the siege of Forth Wagner the blacks of the 54th regiment were still fighting with confidence for the union. We have now split the confederacy and have the upper hand. The south will loose, so southerners listen. You need to surrender and end this war now!
ReplyDeleteWe all woke up this morning without sleeping much last night. The Confederates had four engenes and a long train of box cars filled with amunition and set it on fire last night which caused a grate explosion which kept us all awake. It reminded us of the shells - of all the days of excitement we have had it to day. Every one has been trying to get all they could before the Federals come in the morning. They have ben running with saques of meal, salt and tobacco. They did act rediculous breaking open stores and robbing them. About twelve o'clock there were a few federals came in. They were all frightened. We were afraid they were going to treat us badly. It was not long till the Infantry came in. They were orderely and behaved very well. I think I shall like the Yankees very well.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that all men are created equal! Does it make sense to celebrate freedom in our country if there truly isn't freedom to everyone? I am very proud of the brave Massachusetts 54th regiment. I am also proud to be part of the North! We will have won the war directly!

ReplyDeleteNO! Men are not all equal, of course the white men are equal but no blacks or should i say slaves. This date represents our freedom and how nice it is that we don't have to do anything for ourselves. Blacks shouldn't be able to show their freedom. They are not free. We should not have to treat them equally because they are not equal. They can go work while we celebrate our freedom.

There are too many wars and all of this should just end. All men should be treated equally. They are all men they are the same. Blacks should be treated and should be able to do the same things as whites. They should be able to celebrate their freedom like we celebrate ours)
ReplyDeleteVery true, those southerners need to back down. Every single man and woman are equal, no one is any less and no one is any more. The northerners will win this war, but I don't think that slavery will ever end. People will always have that in their mind. There won't be any more trading, selling, and buying slaves but I think everyone will always think of the blacks as slaves. Why did America even , let slavery happen? It is a very cruel, America has to do a lot to get back on track to becoming the greatest nation. Slavery was one of the hurdles that America had to get over, and it seems like America will always be wounded by this hurdle.
ReplyDeleteVicksburg is important for the union. This gives them a key spot on the Mississippi River, they must defeat the south. All men are equal! Slaves are one whole human not 3/5. From queen victoria to the Underground Railroad all men are equal. I an impressed with grand Abraham Lincoln. The north needs to win, abolish slavery, and stay together with the south.
ReplyDeleteAll men are not equal. Slaves are 3/5 of a person, you have to be off your rocker to truly believe that all men are equal. Vicksburg was a great loss for the Confederacy and we need to start winning more battles.

Blacks are not equal to whites. They are meant to be our slaves and property and that is it. I refuse to accept this bosh idea of us being equal.

I'm proud that President Lincoln gave that speech about all men being equal. As we have already successfully split the Confederacy, Northerners will win this war to make this Union a land of freedom and equality for all.)
All men are equal. The confederacy must back down. Don't they realize what is happening around them? We have control over Vicksburg. Don't they understand that violence is only causing them to suffer more? This war is a blood bath. Violence is not the answer. Too many lives are being put up the spout to fool around with violent bosh.
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for this Battle. Despite the hideous bloodshed, perhaps the South may return. We could mend the country, and our opinions. All men are indeed equal, they deserve to be treated this way. During the Battle of Gettysgurg was one of my finest moments. I ended up injured to the ankle by a spent bullet. But this battle caused me to earn a promotion to Brigadier General. Blood may not be the way to solve this, but we sure can't go back now. This was a turning point.
ReplyDeleteAll men are equal.The war will be over soon we have captured Vicksburg.If the south keep on fighting us it will just means more confederate blood shed.when this war ends there will be a reconstruction time period .Why are the south still fighting us?.Do they reall think life without slaves is that bad?Or are they just to lazy to do it them selves they need slaves to do it for them?😙

Hallelujah aren't I proud. Finally some paper boy finally points out what we are fighting for. We are all equal human beings! Now I'm not sayin I'm not sad about all the soldiers dyin even those on the wrong side. People don't deserve to die cuz one man starter a scuttlebutt that blacks aren't equal. I know how those mommas and children are feeling. Its dreadful hard to lose somebody you love and I apologize for that but if we were all equal from the start this would've never happened.
ReplyDeleteYou Northerners have made a big mistake. They don't know English. These animals will act like animals. How do you think animals will act like in society? They ruin our society, take our jobs, and take our homes. They have no rights to live in our society.
ReplyDeleteWhy does the south persist? I have cut their "nation" in two with the capture of Vicksburg! They must understand that there is no longer any question on the outcome of this unnecessary war. The confederates are just delaying their own demise! If any of them are smart they will lay down their arms and surrender now.
ReplyDeleteBlack's are not people! How can you be a person with no education, no self awareness, and no power! all they can do is make shelter, sleep and pick cotten. That's all. I bet two white soldiers could take down the 54th regiment without a bead of sweat. The South will win the war, if not, we won't go down without a fight.

ReplyDeleteNorth is getting confident. Confidence is only ignorance in a war the north is bound to make a mistake soon and ill be there to capitalize on that mistake. More than 45 union soldiers dead by the hands of me i guess they choose the wrong guys sons to murder.

ReplyDeleteThe battle of Gettysburg is something I don't have much time to focus on because of my hectic acting schedule. I will be acting in Boston, Rhode island, and Connecticut from September through November. I also just finished the acting season at Cleveland's academy of music. Anyways I am happy with the success I have achieved.
ReplyDeleteWe have finally made some progress against the southerners with the capture of Vicksburg. They cannot communicate with each-other if they cannot access themselves through halves.( They think they can deter the south in this way?! What fools! They are incapable of crushing a fighting spirit which we possess. We will continue to win key battles and secure supplies from their villages.
ReplyDeleteTrust me general lee will not surrender after the loss at Gettysburg. Yes It was an embarrassing loss but he will not surrender and are you balled up of why I know this. Well because we need him, he is a ace-high general and he won't let the south down plus he is a curly wolf. Know to president Lincoln's Gettysburg address he made a big mistake. In his address he just assumed the north was going to win the war, apparently he doesn't understand the south's power.

As Lincoln said in his speach all men are created equal. The 54th regiment demonstrates the power of the north and equality of all men. We are so close to defeating the south and must continue to fight strong in supporting the freedom of all in the U.S.
