And then there is
the Negro problem. Suddenly millions of
freed slaves will flood our cities, fill our jobs, demand schools and
homes. Will they reek their own special
vengeance on their humiliated Southern masters?
It is hard to believe that bloodshed is truly over. Even so, this paper rejoices with the news
that the end of the war is at hand, and this paper has total confidence in
President Abraham Lincoln to continue to guide this country back to the
thriving Union it was and hopes to be.
Finally, the North has won! After this long, I tip my hat to all those that fought or supported the north. Many have died but many slaves have been saved. I don't worry about the future but am happy for what has happened to the slaves. I believe the south has thrown in the towel and small armies mean nothing. I dont like death but I don't like the south, I'll let the people decide about Davis.
ReplyDeleteJefferson Davis should step up for us in the south! Show the north that we need slavery.The north has no idea what its like! I will die if slaves will become free or even get payed jobs and go to school and have homes! That can never happen and i will do anything to not let that happen. This war i have to say should have been put to an end way sooner but now that its done i am happy. So many opportunities had left me when the war started. Lets hope that whoever becomes president will keep slavery around!

The slaves need to be free, and go to school, and have a home. The North has finally won! I am happy for the slaves even though it may have caused some men to die. I don't like people dying, but at the same time I do not like the South. I don't know what will happen about Jefferson Davis, but for now I am happy. I don't know what the future has to come, but for now I am happy for what has happened about the slaves.)
ReplyDeleteSince I was captured by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest I do not need to keep my identity a secret. I escaped from prison about six months after being caught and returned to Union lines. Us Northerners are glad to have won the war, the rest of the Confederate army should cut their losses and go home for they have lost.

With time, I would expect any confederate troops left to throw in the towel as the General Lee has already surrendered himself. About the issue concerning Jefferson Davis, I believe he should receive some form of punishment although I do not know wether death is the answer. I know that some problems also may come up with the freed slaves need for jobs and education but I think if we think this thoroughly, we'll find a solution since we cannot ignore the fact that they need it as much as we do. With all that aside, I am very pleased by this victory.)
ReplyDeleteThe North has finally won!!! Although I died long ago, I am very proud of all the Northerners who helped fight the South. The revolution I started long ago carried out and now some slaves are starting to be freed. It is a shame that many people have died but they wont be forgotten. Southerners need to release your slaves and go give them the respect that they deserve. Rejoice for the North has won!!! Let this be a huge lesion for us to never divide our nation again.
ReplyDeleteNortherners do not understand the need we have for slaves. They grow our crops. Why do you have clothes on your backs. Because the slaves harvested the crops needed for the clothes. They grow food that we trade with other countries that gain us other things we need. We need these animals to do our bidding. It's not right to take away our way of life.

ReplyDeleteFinally we have won this war! Through all the tough battles and all the lost lives from this war, I am proud to be part of the Union. I believe President Lincoln will lead us back to a strong nation. It may take some time for our country to recover from the mess the war left. Soon enough I think we will be back to the strong Union we once were.

ReplyDeleteIm honored to have General Robert E. Lee as a general and as a role model for the south. I also believe the army of Tennessee will retaliate. I expect action from Jefferson to show the North we are still in it. As for the slaves, it would be easy to wrangle them all together again because they have no education, we could use fake signs to lure them to locations to capture them.
ReplyDeleteRejoice that the war is over! No more bloodshed and no more slavery! I had the honor at the courthouse of receiving surrendered Concederate battle flags and weapons. It was a glorious day when our states were no longer divided. We are now united together. Even with an injury to my arm and my chest, President Lincoln promoted me to the rank of Major General. I've never been so honored to serve the Union. I'm grateful that this war is ended, the lives of those lost will be honored.

Soldiers that have fought long and hard and sacrificed their lives for their beliefs can finally return to their families, and those who have been lost can be remembered. All men are now equal. There is no need for unnecessary violence, the fighting is done. Now it is time for peace. Although I do not agree with Jefferson Davis, I do not think he should be punished, I feel that punishing him would only give the South more reason to fight.

ReplyDeleteThe war is finaly over and I can finaly attend school again. All since Christmas and New Years I have been helping Mama and working on my multiplication. We are all still very poor but we are doing better. We are re-ganing our food and houses and honoring the dead. We got bad news saying Uncle Osker had died in battle. We are also very happy to have Papa come back home knowing the war is over he wont have to go into battle. We are very lucky a lot of us are still here finaly, we can have peace again.
ReplyDeleteYippee ky ah! We won the battle that will save our lives! This is ace-high. You people o the South have no idea what its like to be slaved from when you were born and then be freed. Some slaves have never felt shoes on their feet, some have never met their families, and some have never tasted a good homemade meal in their life! Now we are free, now we are saved!

ReplyDeleteFinally! The war is over! No need to fight for equal rights. It is about time though. This war has been going on for too long! I knew that the Southerners were goners, when they first started the war. I have seen much too many people suffering, in the war, as the assistant surgeon. This is grand news, General Robert E. Lee finally threw in the sponge or towel. But now, women are not being treated equally since the men are back from war. Maybe that will be my next project.
ReplyDeleteI am not happy. The northerners don't understand that the south need slaves. They have helped us grow and made trade with others. They shouldn't be taken away from the southerners. (Yes! The North has won. Slaves should not be anyone's property. They should be able to do same thing as whites because slaves are human. The south does not need slaves. I am truly sad that we have lost many lives but will never be forgotten. I am proud to end slavery. I believe it's time for me and my husband to leave.)
ReplyDeleteThe surrender of Lee has brought about what everyone believes to be the end of the war, they are sorely mistaken. before the surrender of Lee I devised a plan to kidnap Lincoln then use him as a bargaining chip for the south. Now that they have taken over and sopped most of our forces I have decided to change the form of my plan. Instead of kidnapping I'm going to do the only thing I left to stop Lincolns path of annihilation. May god forgive me.
ReplyDeleteThis is just grand. Lincoln thinks this is an end to the war. There's still be fighting we can't let the slaves take our jobs our homes. And what will they do to there old masters? We can't let them be free there will be more death and blood shed for years.

ReplyDeleteSadly we have lost this war there is no hope for us to win. But we will surrender because there is no point to fight when we have lost just so more men can die. But I have to thank the north for being nice to general Lee which I'm balled up about but thank you! As southerns we have accepted losing the war but we will always believe that Abraham Lincoln could have prevented that war multiple times Abraham Lincoln is shoddy.

ReplyDeleteThis is horrible. The negros will overrun our economy and steal all of our supplies, It is impossible to repair the damages caused by the unionists. They have rampaged our Georgia and will most likely unfairly discriminate against the southern citizens as well. I greatly fear for our nations security.

ReplyDeleteThis is not good, the northerners do not understand we need slaves. They do everything for us. The food your eating was made by our slaves. Us southerners will have nothing without our slaves. (The war is finally over! All the blood shed is over, our country is once again united! the slaves are now free and treated better! I can finally go back to being myself after all these years, no more lies. god bless america)
